In this edition, we're going to discuss your chances of
becoming a ghost.  Statistically *one out of every 30 who die  becomes a ghost.  They do so for various reasons.

WHY DO SOME BECOME GHOSTS
AND OTHERS DON'T?

To answer that question, let's explore 'free will' for a moment.  All of us have the unique ability to consciously make decisions, for better or worse. The problem is, if we make a wrong choice in an area of importance, we're stuck with it…sometimes forever.

At the time of death, we make our last decision. We can either choose to go up to the Eternal Light (which appears to us at the time that death occurs) and continue our spiritual development. Or we can stay here on this earthly plane...usually for eternity.  It's our decision.

Do those who become ghosts do so because they're shallow? Or…?  Before we judge those who stay here on this plane too harshly, let's look at some common reasons for staying here.

Sometimes people love what they have here too much to leave it.  Liberace is one such notable example. He adored being the center of attention, loved playing the piano and the adulation of the crowds.

He had everything that money could buy: houses, cars, nice clothes, furs, and the ability to take trips to any place on earth he wanted. In fact, he loved life so much, he refused to give it up, and can often be seen in his museum in Las Vegas, playing his favorite piano.

Occasionally, the soul of the person who died, doesn't know he's dead.  That occurs in instantaneous death. We often envy those who go so quickly, they don't know it.  It's ironic.

Some examples of this type of death are head-on car crashes, having a massive coronary when asleep, skiing accidents, boating accidents, you name it, the list goes on and on.  Because death occurred so quickly, the soul of the person just keeps on going about the business of life.

A particularly tragic event, such as dying from a fatal gun shot, can also occur. In this case, the soul of the person who's body died, thinks its still in the fight for its life, and will continue fighting for it throughout eternity…since ghosts see things as they were, not as they are.

Sometimes a soul stays here looking for loved ones he or she somehow lost. They were here on this earthly plane when he last saw them, so he stays, always looking for them, never finding them.

The above two examples are not residual hauntings, in which a ghost isn't present. They are very real occurrences, involving a ghost who's lost his or her way to the Eternal Light.

PREVENTION

What can you do to prevent becoming a ghost? Even if you're not religious, ask someone to say that little prayer for you that most of us learned as children; "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul he'll take." According to some psychics I've talked to, it's surprisingly effective.

Make sure all your affairs are kept in order. Sometimes a person simply isn't ready to go because of unfinished business here.  These are practical people who, for whatever reason, didn't get around to doing what they'd planned.

Dying is an important event of life. It's the natural cessation of the body. This termination frees the soul to go onto a higher level of consciousness, which we usually refer to as heaven or the after-life.

That's it for now.
