About the AuthorCliff McGoon has been a writer, editor and publisher for most of his adult life. He received a B.S. degree in Communications from the University of Illinois in 1963.

McGoon published the magazine "Communication World" for 13 years for the International Association of Business Communicators headquartered in San Francisco.

He worked in public relations and communications for several multi-national corporations. He also was a captain in the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.

Not only is Gorcheck trapped on a ship with John Bettsford's lover of nine years, but also with her billionaire husband, Milton, who is putting together the final pieces of a scheme to corner the US wheat market. John Bettsford was a pivotal part of the multi-billion-dollar deal, and Milton thinks Gorcheck is Bettsford.

       Retired Des Plaines police detective Chet McGarey is recruited by the ship's captain to help solve Joanne Armer's disappearance, along with the murder of a crew member. McGarey's chief reason for attending the cruise is to revisit a 50-year-old school romance with Bailey Turner.

       McGarey finds himself investigating the crew member's murder and Joanne Armer's disappearance, but with few resources and formidable opponents. Along the way he discovers that Milton Armer is a drug lord who is parlaying his billions in an all-or-nothing gamble to corner the world's wheat market.

       McGarey is outclassed, outmaneuvered and outgunned in this mystery-romance-thriller.
