After an extremely traumatic day Elizabeth returns home on her birthday expecting to have dinner with her best friend, Samantha. She enters her home and comes face to face with a man she has never met. Samantha hired William to give Elizabeth the perfect birthday gift.

William runs a business arranging special occasions and acquiring things for people that they can't or won't take time to acquire for themselves. For Elizabeth's birthday, he decides that after the bad experiences she has had over the last couple of years she deserves to be treated like a princess for a night.

There is an immediate attraction between Elizabeth and William. As they get to know each other the attraction builds into a relationship quickly and intensely. After William goes to Napa on business, Elizabeth returns home to find that someone has been in her house.

When William returns from his business trip he learns that someone is stalking Elizabeth. On his first night back, while they are making love, a garden statue is thrown through the window.

When William has to go to London to get his sister, Jen, (who has spent a decade of her life institutionalized because of traumatic events in her childhood) Elizabeth agrees to go with him. William is hoping that whoever has focused on Elizabeth will lose interest while they are overseas. While in London, Elizabeth and William run into "Hugh," Elizabeth's ex-husband. He disappeared two years ago along with all her money. The encounter brings a new dimension to the couple's relationship as Elizabeth starts to let go of her past, but encounters faucets of William's that she didn't know existed.

When they return to California, they'll have to settle things between themselves, put the past to rest and with the help of William's psychic sister, and friends, eliminate the threat endangering Elizabeth's life.

Lara Williams has written a completely engrossing tale with characters that are completely enthralling. The story line has a terrific plot with a couple of surprises that the reader doesn't expect. There are a couple of typos/grammar errors but other than that the story is very well written. Once I started reading I just had to keep reading to see how it ended.
