Tired of being the personal assistant for the spoiled actor Trevor Ryan, who even made her buy his condoms for his endless flings, Tess Marshall finally decides to cut her losses.  Her crush on Trevor had bloomed into love as she worked for him, yet he never noticed her beyond being his very capable assistant. Tess flees to her safe haven of Lake Cushman to nurse her wounded ego and try to get over the unrequited love she has for him despite him being an arrogant brat.

Trevor had it all until Tess told him off and quit. Suddenly his perfect world spiraled into chaos and he quickly went to woo Tess back into her job. Finding her in the middle of nowhere, Trevor was surprised to find out that his competent PA was a sexy and very alluring woman. All of a sudden he didn't want her business skills, he wanted her, but was he willing to rise to her standards and needs? Because Tess is asking for more than he had ever imagined.
This book was a great read; it started off with the bang of Tess up and leaving Trevor. With the tables turned over and him floundering, the sexy bad boy encountered the most challenging role ever- groveling! Tess was a spitfire character, once she told him off all holding back was done and she let herself be natural and not back down from him again.  When he shows up at her retreat, the heat was turned up and the spicy scenes that followed were full of passion. The obvious tension of their relationship as well as the struggle of where to take it was satisfying.  The characters mature as compromise is reached and when they finally accept each other the inevitable happens. I give this hot quickie four out of five stars!

Kate Ralston needs to get her hands on the Eye of the Serpent, to save her father who disappeared into Sand City. She is very much the take charge woman, so after paying a lot of money and dealing with some not so reputable people, Kate is furious when she gets an old, dusty glass bottle instead of the key to setting her father free. Out of irritation she swipes the dust from the bottle, and the thunder that shakes her room is nothing compared to the thundering of her heat when she looks up the most perfect and quite naked man she has ever seen.

Will Moreland awakens naked in an unknown hotel room with a woman that he is pretty sure he has never slept with.  The last thing he remembered was Harry reaching for the Stone of Azhi, which was part of the curse by the same evil king who created the Eye of the Serpent.  He is stunned to learn that this hot headed imp insists that it is the year 2006 and even more so to learn that he must fulfill her every wish.

Kate wants Will and despite the obvious desire from both of them to indulge in a weekend of sexual escapades, there are people that wouldn't mind seeing them dead.  Kate and Will agree to help each other. And merriment wraps around them but still leave Kate and Will enough time to find moments to indulge in sizzling hot passion.  They learn the very hard way that Kate's wishes never seem to quite work out and they find themselves in one predicament after another. Harry and Edie show up to help along the way, but in the end can Kate and Will accomplish their goals and still hang on to each other?

The Trouble With Will is a fun filled and very erotic quickie that continues to show the affects of the Stone of Azhi.   Kate is a kickass woman who is used to taking care of herself and is determined to save her father.  Will is a ladies man with no intentions of settling down, and is frustrated by Kate's incessant need to pick fights, until he learns just how hot the make up sessions are. The instant attraction between the two and the silly attempt that Kate and Will make trying convince themselves it's just a fling is amusing. This book was definitely a sequel with some obvious jokes from the first book, but done so well that I am now interested in reading The Trouble With Harry.  It was a well written and fun read and a great lunch time break!

Helen Pratt is happy with her life as a journalist when she meets Adam Montgomery.  She is entranced but fearful of the thirteen year age difference.  However she is swept off her feet and they marry.  Loving her new life with Adam, Helen tries hard to adapt to her new role as stepmother to Missy, the very spoiled daughter who is only eight years her junior.
Helen and Adam decide that they want to have a baby and begin to try immediately. Helen's life is in for ups and downs when her newly widowed father marries the neighbor next door, her best friend gets into a relationship with a less than honorable man and worst of all Missy moves home, since her boyfriend left her when she became pregnant. Helen has to overcome the disappointment, and soon learns to love her new step-grandson with all her heart.  When sudden tragedy strikes and Missy dies, she is blessed with a gift she never expected to have in young Joey.

This book is incredibly written, and because of the first person telling it sweeps the reader right into the feel and emotional impact that Ms. Marquette conveys.  The story is a well constructed read and let's you into the character's lives.  I was very caught up in the book, so I was a little disappointed at the lack of emotion towards the very end. Helen was portrayed as an emotional person and when her step-daughter died it was very calm and passé, not what I would have expected.  However this was a fabulous read that I have suggested to my own sisters.  It is a wonderful story that every mother should read.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Dr. Summer Peters chose Harvest, Louisiana as another stop on a quest to get information for her latest book on the myths of magic.  What she did not expect was to find that the ever present and slightly annoying Cayden Beauvais would enthrall her as much as he did.  As she finds her self fall quickly and passionately for this man, her past comes up to haunt her.

Having been plagued her whole life with visions of the dead, even Summer is not ready for the evil Alsandair who is trying to steal the necromancer powers that he so covets and she doesn't really know what to do with.

Cayden fights the instant attraction of the new death speaker, not sure if she is bringing good or evil to the hometown he has sworn to protect.  As he learned more about Summer the more he wants her and from the first moment of passion they share he wants all of her with a protective possessiveness that scares him. Together with a local coven made up of all traditions, Summer must fight for the salvation of earth and all the souls it holds.

This book was a great read, easily paced and pulling you in from the very first chapter. Summer is a feisty character but so believable in her journey to discovery of self that the reader can easily empathize with her.  The romance was great, however I found that it was difficult to place- the language said erotica but the scenes were more romance and I found that I would have preferred it to be just romance, the scenes weren't explicit enough for the erotica nature and in this great of a book really didn't need them to be.

I enjoyed Summer and Cayden's romance, very loving and fun but not easy.  The culmination of the book had a few false endings but over all ended on a great high note. I can easily give this book 3 out of 5 stars and look forward to more stories with this dynamic couple.

Basdinya is a princess of Egypt and sister to the great Cleopatra and sick and tired of always being told what to do.  In her life of privilege everyone has a plan for her but no one seems to care what she wants to do.  Her life changes as they move to Alexandria where she has had vision of the Great Library burning.

Through her journey, Basdinya meets the great Julius Caesar and finally gets to know her servants for who they are and not what position they hold.  It is in her selfless act of trying to save scrolls, that mere weeks before had been nothing but a burden, that she earns the unyielding gratitude of Rabbi ben Eleazer and the Jewish people.

This was a great tale of a young woman coming into her own.  As Basdinya begins to mature she learns that life is very complex and her every action has a consequence.  Her world is continually shaken as truth is revealed to her which forces her to look at all she knows and believes in a different light.  This was a great introduction to Egyptian society and culture with a good message.  I was slightly disappointed that the Egyptian religion was so lightly explored but over all the story was well written and paced for the tween  (7 - 11 age) audience.  The history lesson of monarchal Egyptian families was well explained and the message about history's importance loud and clear.

This book receives 3 out of 5 stars for a great book to interest youths in other cultures and experiences outside their own.

Review: Mark Hillberry in consumed with his recent experiences of déjà vu. He's a surrealist painter whose paintings have always been dark and mystifying, but now he finds himself painting images of  future events, that are so insane he can't tell if he's slowly losing his mind or if he has developed the power to see the future?

Mark is looking forward to the day when he realizes his dream of selling his paintings. But in current time, his wife, Gina is pulling away from their marriage because Mark refuses to leave his dreams and grow up. Gina is unhappy with their small apartment, lack of money, and Mark. She hates his refusal to work out, his smoking habit, and is terrified by his dark paintings which she has begun to star in.

Rainy Des Moines, Iowa is the background for this personal journey that takes a deep look inside the mind of a painter, who isn't sure if he's insane or brilliant. Written in a stream of consciousness style; you watch while the main character experience multiple episodes of déjà vu that begins to eat away at his grip on reality and ability to function.  The constant personal narrative of his thoughts flows in plots twists, metaphors and characters that are quirky enough to be real. He creates a series of paintings that seem to hold keys that connect him to both his future and his past. Cave of the Painter's Mind is refreshing, unsettling, and impossible to put down.

This is a highly recommended read, especially for anyone who has experienced déjà vu. It is brooding, metaphorical and enthralling. Mark is faced with problems that many people experience on a daily basis, but because of his unique mind set his hopes for the future set him up to wind through the caves relentlessly even though they can lead to the destruction of his world.  This book was fascinating, even though it had a slow start, it was quickly paced and set so that at times you could relate to the craziness Mark experienced, and at others you wanted him to grow up and be a man.  This style was refreshing and stimulating as well as forcing the reader to think not just sit by and watch the story unfold.  I easily give this novel four stars and look forward to Mr. Dennis' next book.
