Attending her ten-year high school reunion, Dane Harley reminisces with her long time friend, Roxy. Sifting through a box, Dane comes across a rock carved with the initials J + D=4EVER, and then a heartfelt letter professing love and loyalty, forever. After ten years, Dane's leaving John Stratton still makes her heart ache. On a dare, Dane calls the Stratton home when Janine Stratton answers. Is she John's wife?

Ms. Kent's, Dear John is an engaging, sizzling story with an active plot. Believing he has moved on, Dane visits Janine who is eight months pregnant, with a one year-old sleeping upstairs. She blushes upon learning how excited John will be hearing she has returned to town. Janine informs Dane that he works as a travel writer for a newspaper. Making excuses, Dane leaves the Stratton home with an invitation to attend the following weekend's barbeque.

John does not wait for the weekend, showing up at Roxy's apartment. Opening the door to John Stratton, Dane is embraced by firm hands and welcoming lips, bringing back sultry though fond memories. Pulling her fully into his arms John gropes Dane, reacquainting with her body while devouring her mouth, grinding his need against her. His cell phone interrupts their lovemaking - Janine. Before leaving, John vows their relationship is not over, the next ten years he will dictate, not her. That may well be, still, Janine is an obstacle in John's life that Dane cannot ignore.

These characters are earthy though appealing as Dane seems hardedge upon first meeting but softens as the story unfolds. Her remorse is genuine believing they are betraying Janie when giving in to John's sexual advances. John, though a successful writer, still carries an air of biker bad-boy. Capturing Dane in the pantry, he seduces her with sensual caresses and deep meaningful kisses, firing Dane's passions. Their unions are frequent, coming together with ravishing need and gratifying fulfillment. The exhibitionism is sedate though heightens the corporeal awareness of the story. A hot, fast read, Dear John satisfies this reader's need for romance and erotic sex.
